Big news!

50026 is back on her wheels!

And we are leaving MoD Bicester!

Saturday 5th February

After superb work by Berry Cranes, 50026 was lifted onto her new overhauled bogies. The loco had been sat on sleepers since the failed lifting exercise by 275 Railway Troop (TA) on 30th October 2004. The cranes were also used to move our two power units.

Power unit (ex-50045) is lifted onto lorry for movement to 50021 Association's secure storage site.

50026's overhauled power unit is lifted onto a lorry for movement to new site at MoD Bicester.

After 18-months of hard work the two overhauled bogies ready for fitting.

The cranes are rigged up.

We have lift off....

Up she goes....

We are now cruising at 5 feet....

Coming in for a smooth landing...

We have landed....

Home sweet home....well for another week anyway!

We are Leaving

Unfortunately Defence Estates have decided at the last minute that we can not now use the "old boilerhouse" building at G site for our new restoration base. The alternative they have offered is just no use to us at all. We have therefore taken the decision to move off site as quickly as possible. The locomotive will hopefully be moved soon to FM Rail in Derby for storage awaiting the payment of our damages claim against 275 Railway Troop. Once the insurance claim is paid the it is hoped that FM Rail will undertake the repairs to the locomotive. 50026 will then be moved to a secure site for the completion of the restoration project.
