Bogie Overhaul - Update 3rd October 2003

The overhaul of the bogies (ex 50001 with wheels from 50043) continues apace. No 2 end bogie is now completely overhauled and reassembled except for the traction motors. On Saturday 27th September new brake blocks were fitted to the bogie and re-bushed connecting rod and slack adjusters were fitted.

On October 2nd a straight air brake value was piped up to the bogie and the brakes were tested and found to be perfect.

Bogie 2 is now almost complete

Work has started on the traction motors with the overhaul of all the brush gear as can be seen in this picture of a after and before brush box.
